Campbell’s Deconstruction

The purpose of this project is to deconstruct and reconstruct an item by use of a shadows and light. Essentially what I am going to do is set up a light projecting onto a can of soup (or any item that creates a recognizable shape with a shadow) to create a shadow on a screen that is in the center of a table. On the opposite side of the screen, I’m going to have a slide projector project an image of the label of  the can of soup. When the two projections come together, they will be a completed can of soup.

Super Water Steamy Elk Ice Thing 09-21-2011

This project involves going out into nature on two seperate occasions. The first excursion is to capture some beautiful spectacle of nature, be it the fall colors, or some elk bugling or maybe even a hobo bathing in the creek. The second journey out, on a freezing cold night, I will bring a projector, a pane of glass mounted somehow on a stand and my Nikon D7000. I will record myself projecting the image that I captured on the first excursion. I will then spray the pane of glass down with a spray bottle of sorts. As the water freezes the image of the first excursion will slowly collect and become visible. When I project this beautiful creation to the class, I will place a tea kettle on a hot plate. The entire length of the video will be the amount of time that it takes to turn the water into steam. The steam will then interfere with the projected image. Voila. Art.
